Graduation parties can range from a celebration of passage from pre-school to kindergarten to a high school commencement or even to a party to honor the attainment of a doctorate. In any case, graduations are always happy occasions that deserve a good party. As with most any party, the first detail that a host must consider when planning a graduation party is the guest list. Most formal parties are usually specifically planned as invitation only events. However, many graduation parties, especially high school graduations, are set up as open house parties, where guests can come and go as they please.
One popular idea at graduation parties is a timeline or memory board. These can be quite simple or very elaborate - it does not really matter. The point of them is to remind the guests and the graduate how far the guest of honor has come. Sometimes, guests are given the chance to record their own memories of the graduate at the party. These memories are usually very precious to the graduate for years to come, so it is important to be careful to make sure that they are written on sturdy paper or poster boards so that they hold up over time.
